Bats

We have just finished our research projects on bats and they turned out great! The kids really enjoyed researching their favorite bats and making a poster using torn art. We used a selection of non-fiction science books in reading groups. I love how they all turned out so differently!

freebie this weekend only!

Now that the school year is fast approaching (Yikes!!) I decided to create a back to school unit with student safety in mind.Always fearful that one of my lovelies will decide to go home on a bus of their choosing, (and I could be on the six o' clock news) I decided to create easy to read bag tags to ensure that all of my students will make it home the way their parents intended. I have just uploaded it to my TPT store for you to check out :)

The set includes tags for bus riders, car riders, daycare, and afterschool programs. There is also room for teachers to add information. I can easily adjust to meet your needs. You can message me via TPT or you can email me directly : deirdreforde@comcast.net

These tags are also a great tie-in to my back to school math unit on graphing....great way to make connections for students :)

Now that the start of the school year is fast approaching (yikes!!) I decided to create  back to school bag tags for my little ones. No more worrying that one of my lovelies will decide for him/herself how he/ she is going home. One quick glance at the tags and it will be clear exactly how the students will arrive safely at their parents requested destination!

The set includes tags for bus riders, car riders, daycare, and afterschool programs. Specific information can easily be added by teachers.

It is a great tie-in to the graphing lesson that I have focusing on how students go home from school.

I just finished my latest unit....an interactive reading notebook for first grade. I have often used a notebook with my students but I never had the time to have readymade standards printed for my little ones. Everything fits in a composition notebook. All you need is a notebook for each student and you are all set!

Exciting Find

Ok. Here goes my second attempt at starting a blog.....all things technical scare me! In an effort to be more organized I decided to set up my math centers like the queen of Clutter Free Clasroom. I have all of my math tubs sorted and I created some funky labels to jazz them up a little. While shopping at Target yesterday I came across these perfect pocket charts in the $1 section ( perfect for using with the math workshop) They come in a variety of pretty colors. I chose blue in the hopes that it will calm my ever energetic first graders next year. I have hope.....

The pocket chart has 8 pockets so I cut each in half and added a little decorative scotch tape to dress each section up a little.

Thank you Jodi for helping me get a better handle on organizing math centers!
